GALADER-LİSTAG ortak basın bülteni: Uluslararası Aile Günü’nde Farklı Kıtalardan Aynı Ses Yükseldi

GALADER-LİSTAG ortak basın bülteni: Uluslararası Aile Günü’nde Farklı Kıtalardan Aynı Ses Yükseldi

15 Mayıs Uluslararası Aile Günü’nde Avrupa, Amerika ve Afrika’dan 20’yi aşkın aile örgütü bir araya gelerek kendi dillerinde aynı mesajı paylaştı.

15 Mayıs Uluslararası Aile Günü kapsamında, ENP (European Network of Parents of LGBTI+ Persons) ve PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) öncülüğünde uluslararası bir sosyal medya kampanyası başlatıldı.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

May 15, 2026

ENP, together with PFLAG and partners Launch Three-Day Global Social Media Campaign Across More Than 20 Countries

A worldwide movement uniting families, communities, and LGBTQ+ organisations around love, belonging, and democratic values

MALTA — Today, the European Network of Parents of LGBTI+ Persons (ENP), PFLAG, the United States’ largest organisation dedicated to supporting LGBTQ+ people and their families, and partners from across the globe launch a three-day global social media campaign spanning more than 20 countries across Europe, Africa, and the United States.

Timed to coincide with two internationally recognised days — the International Day of Families (May 15), and the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia, IDAHOBIT (May 17).  The choice of these two days is intentional as many times the existence of LGBTIQ+ people are not recognised in days that are not specific to them. By having the campaign to span across these two days, the campaign carries a message as old as humanity itself: queer people have always existed. Trans people have always existed. And their families have always existed as well.

A Campaign Born from a Simple Truth

Across every culture, every religion, every ethnicity, every generation — LGBTQ+ people and their families are woven into the fabric of human life. The campaign invites the world to see it.

The campaign speaks directly to families: to parents who are learning, to siblingsy who already know, to grandparents holding photographs, to children waiting to be told they are loved exactly as they are. It asks nothing more than what every family already knows how to do — pass love on.

At a moment when LGBTQ+ people, and particularly transgender people, face mounting pressure in public life and policy across the globe, #LoveMakesaFamily pauses to ask a deeper question: why, across so many different countries, cultures, and backgrounds, are so many people uniting against such a small, vulnerable group? This is not simply a cultural question. It is a systemic one — and it demands a systemic response rooted not in division, but in the radical ordinariness of family love.

Three Days, One Message

May 15 — International Day of Families

Diverse Families, Universal Love

The campaign opens with a Passing Paper video — a tender, cross-cultural visual representation of what it means to build a home where authenticity is treasured. Participating organisations worldwide are invited to share the message that love — not expectation, not condition, not conformity — is what makes a family. All children are deserving of unconditional love and affirmation. That is not a political position. It is a human one.

May 16

Love Makes a Family

A campaign GIF carries the words: Love has no conditions. Family has no exceptions. Every child deserves to be celebrated exactly as they are. Organisations across the campaign are sharing how unconditional acceptance of LGBTQ+ family members makes families stronger — not weaker — and how, one family at a time, an affirming world is being built.

May 17 — IDAHOBIT

Democracy Starts at Home

On the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia, the campaign amplifies this year’s IDAHOBIT theme — At the heart of democracy — with a clear message: truly democratic societies are built to protect every person within them. LGBTQ+ injustice is not a distant issue. It lives inside families, inside homes, inside the hearts of people in every country represented in this campaign. Supporting LGBTQ+ families is not separate from supporting democracy. It is democracy.

A Global Coalition

The campaign brings together parent networks and LGBTQ+ organisations  from across Europe, Africa, and America — more than 20 countries united not by sameness, but by shared conviction. The campaign reflects a world that has always included LGBTQ+ people and has always included the families who love them.

We exist. Our families exist. And together, we always have.
